CHICAGO TRIBUNE: After Natural Disasters Ravaged Puerto Rico's Most Vaunted Art Museum, a Chicago Mu

National Museum of Puerto Rican Arts and Culture CEO Billy Ocasio is keenly aware that this September marks five years since Hurricane Irma and Hurricane Maria, the first of a litany of crises that have since plagued the island. So, when he connected with the Museo de Arte about hosting never-before-seen-in-the-States artworks from its collection at the Humboldt Park museum, his next move was a no-brainer: NMPRAC would donate all proceeds from programming around the exhibit, “Nostalgia for My Island” (Sept. 20 to Aug. 15, 2023) — including the Orquesta Sinfónica de Puerto Rico’s Chicago debut, “Sonidos de mi Isla,” at Symphony Center on Aug. 6 — back to the Museo de Arte.
