2023 Shortlist Inclusions Reflect Continuing Influence of CMP and Doc10 on Nonfiction Film Industry
CHICAGO, Illinois (December 21, 2022) – With today’s announcement of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ shortlisted titles for the 95th Academy Awards, Chicago-based CMP continued its impressive streak of supporting and introducing audiences to the very best in nonfiction filmmaking year after year. CMP’s flagship programs, the Doc10 documentary film festival held each Spring in Chicago and the Doc5 festival held in a different city each year, are known as a documentary film’s first step on the road to Oscars, having been early supporters of past nominees and winners including SUMMER OF SOUL (...OR, WHEN THE REVOLUTION COULD NOT BE TELEVISED), AMERICAN FACTORY, COLLECTIVE, and MINDING THE GAP.
This year’s Doc10 and Doc5 films shortlisted for 95th Academy Awards nominations include:
BAD AXE, dir. David Siev

A HOUSE MADE OF SPLINTERS, dir. Simon Lereng Wilmont
