Updated: Jun 7, 2022

Film and Television Star Participates in PORTAL-PROV! Improv Show, NERD THERAPY PODCAST May 15, 2022

CHICAGO, Illinois -- Otherworld Theatre Company, the premier sci-fi and fantasy theatrical production company in North America, today announced that Larry Bagby (BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER, HOCUS POCUS) will appear at the venue at 3914 N. Clark St. on Sunday, May 15, 2022, participating in two of Otherworld’s signature programs.

At 7 p.m., Bagby joins the cast of Otherworld Theatre’s PORTAL-PROV!, a weekly improv show themed to a different fandom every Sunday evening. Featuring games, audience participation, and nerdy fun, PORTAL-PROV! has explored the fandoms of Star Trek, Jurassic Park, Jane Austen, and more, playing to sold-out houses since its March 13 premiere.

At 8:30 p.m. Bagby takes on a more serious tone as he joins co-hosts Eric Kolland Natalie Jeung for a special live taping of THE NERD THERAPY PODCAST, exploring themes of bullying throughout genre films and television shows.. Some of Bagby’s most beloved roles have seen him portray bullies, including “Larry Blaisdell” in three seasons of BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER and “Ice” in fan classic HOCUS POCUS, but while he often played bullies in real life he was more frequently a victim. New episodes of THE NERD THERAPY PODCAST release the fourth Friday of every month, and can be found on Apple Podcasts, Stitcher, and wherever you get your podcasts.

Tickets are $20 for the evening, including PORTAL-PROV! and THE NERD THERAPY PODCAST taping. PORTAL-PROV! begins at 7 p.m. and runs approximately 70 minutes, and THE NERD THERAPY PODCAST begins at 8:30 p.m. and runs 60 minutes. All attendees including audience members, media, staff and volunteers, and performers are required to show proof of full vaccination, and masks are required to be worn over the mouth and nose at all times, unless actively eating or drinking. Tickets are available for purchase at www.otherworldtheatre.org.
