World Back to Work's David Shor Issues Statement on NFL Decision to Restrict COVID Testing

Updated: Jun 8, 2022

LOS ANGELES, California – Amidst a resurgence of COVID-19 cases throughout the NFL leading to canceled and rescheduled games, the NFL quietly revised its testing protocols, announcing its restrictions late in the evening on Saturday December 18. Under these revised protocols, the NFL will only test unvaccinated players and those experiencing possible COVID-19 symptoms, in an apparent effort to reduce positive tests and avoid further disruptions to their game schedule. They have also issued a policy that unvaccinated players may opt out of testing. Leading experts have confirmed that even vaccinated individuals can carry and spread the COVID-19 virus.

“This is not the time to restrict COVID testing,” said World Back to Work co-founder and chairman David Shor. “We’re seeing significant infection rates across the country, and it is outright irresponsible for an organization like the NFL to simply pretend the virus isn’t here by shutting their eyes. This is a betrayal of their players and employees, and only makes our communities less safe. I understand they’re exhausted having to deal with the COVID pandemic, but the reality is that they may get another week with this strategy. Illness can’t be hidden.”
